Carlton L.P. Talbot, Esq.

Founding Attorney

Carlton Talbot founded Talbot Legal Consultants in 2017 to serve a deliberately curated client base of founders, entertainers, professional athletes, and the companies they build. The firm represents clients across Florida, California, and select international matters.

The firm’s primary engagement model is fractional General Counsel — embedded, ongoing legal leadership for early- and growth-stage companies that require the judgment of a senior in-house lawyer without the cost structure of full-time headcount. In that capacity, Carlton routinely advises founders, executives, and boards on the full operational spectrum of running a company: corporate governance and board administration; cap table management and equity issuance; investor relations and capital-raise support; shareholder rights and dispute resolution; commercial contracting, including licensing, distribution, joint venture, manufacturing, and strategic partnership agreements; intellectual property filing, portfolio management, and enforcement; employment and human-capital matters, including hiring, separation, executive compensation, and workplace policy; and oversight of outside counsel, regulatory exposure, and litigation risk mitigation.

This General Counsel function is reinforced by substantive litigation, regulatory, and cross-border enforcement experience that directly informs the firm’s corporate practice. Carlton has represented multinational and importing clients in U.S. federal court, before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, and in Section 337 investigations before the United States International Trade Commission, with substantive work on Lanham Act enforcement, intellectual property infringement, and counterfeit-importation matters. He has appeared on behalf of importers before U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services on classification, seizure, scope ruling, prior disclosure, and penalty mitigation matters; advised on customs bonded warehouse applications, anti-dumping and countervailing duty issues, and Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTSUS) classification; drafted Export Control and Customs Compliance Manuals; and counseled clients on the IP Rights e-Recordation framework and gray-market protection. His practice has consistently served as the legal infrastructure for international companies operating in the United States — from FDA-regulated commodities and product registration through cross-border distribution, brand enforcement, and regulatory exposure. He has contributed to matters informing copyright issues that have reached the United States Supreme Court. Additional depth includes antitrust review work relevant to Hart-Scott-Rodino Second Requests, data privacy and CCPA/GDPR compliance counsel, and complex multi-jurisdictional pharmaceutical litigation support.

Carlton currently serves as Chief Legal Officer of a leading beauty and lifestyle retail company and is Of-Counsel to Industria Business Lawyers LLP, a business law firm with offices in Washington, D.C., Miami, and New York.
